Be sure to keep these four makeup tricks in mind for cooler weather.

While summertime bloomed no-makeup looks, haphazard hairdos and easy, flowy maxi dresses, the crisp air of fall marks a return to ritual and formality. Autumn’s arrival is the perfect time for a fresh start; it's all about streamlining and cleaning your closet, but you can’t forget your makeup bag. After your refresh, here’s what you need to stock up on for October.
1. Fresh, Matte Skin
BB creams yield a smooth canvas, even skin tones, protect from UV rays and hydrate. A great one to try is Olay Fresh Effects BB Cream: the small, slim tube is perfectly portable for travel and can be applied with fingers — the heat from your hands melts the product onto the skin perfectly. Prep skin by exfoliating dry, flaky dead skin cells with an exfoliating brush or scrub.
2. Concealed Under Eye Circles
Saving time in the morning is key, which is why I'm loving CoverGirl & Olay Eye Rehab Concealer. It refreshes the eye area and imparts a light tint. For the softest, most natural results, apply with a damp makeup sponge.
3. A Fabulous Fall Flush
For cheeks that say, “I got this rosy glow riding my horse at my country home,” it’s all about a peachy tone. My favorite way to fake a post-summer glow is to take a big, fluffy blush brush and sweep a peach-hued blush across my face as my final step.
4. Bold Berry Lips
For a fiercely formal, rich berry pout, prep lips first with a lip balm. Use a lip brush and paint on your lip with a shade like CoverGirl LipPerfection Lip Color in Euphoria. Blot with a tissue, then brush a second layer on your lips for a look that lasts all night. Not quite ready for all that color? Ease into fall with a deeper but translucent iteration of a berry hue, like CoverGirl Lip Slicks Lip Smoochies Lip Balm in 2 Cute, a sheer mauve-influenced raspberry.
How are you updating your makeup bag this fall?
