Be Accommodating

Be a good hostess by making your guest room welcoming. A bedside light to read by, an extra blanket at the end of the bed and extra pillows will help guests feel comfortable.

Remember what guests may have forgotten. Shampoos, toothbrushes and razors are sometimes left behind—have extras for a guest in need. Stock up on travel-size essentials at the dollar bin and put them in a shower tote in the guest room. 

Consider a night-light for the bedroom and/or bathroom. It will help guests find their way in unfamiliar surroundings.

Store an ample supply of guest towels in your guest room so your visitors won’t have to ask or hunt around for them.

Supply Amenities

Have a Wi-Fi connection? Make it easily accessible by providing the log-in/password information on a slip of paper and placing it somewhere in the guest's room.

Add a few thoughtful touches—such as a few best-selling paperbacks or a selection of their favorite magazines on the nightstand.

A good hostess knows her guests well, so stock up on a few of their favorite foods. Breakfast foods that are easy to prepare (bagels, fruit, granola) will be a big hit.

For their days and nights on the town give guests some ideas of places to visit, complete with directions, telephone numbers, hours, etc. Place a few menus of your favorite local restaurants in their room.
