Caring for Your Hair this Fall

Caring for Your Hair this Fall

Protect your hair from the elements this fall with hard-working hair accessories.

When you drop off the kids at school only to turn and feel the fierce wind whipping your hair across your face, it’s time to consider some new styling options – some more autumn-friendly, perhaps – and face the fact that father winter is right behind.

Outdoor elements wreak havoc on hair if we aren’t careful. It goes beyond windy, unwieldy blowing of the mane awry and extends to split ends and other wear and tear.

We still want to be able to get outdoors and enjoy the season, so let’s also keep in mind how we’re taking care of our locks. If the forces of Mother Nature mean that babying our hair is in order, it’s worth it.

First, Some Repair
We did enough damage during the summer months, so turn to a protective formula like Pantene Repair and Protect Shampoo and Conditioner to prevent more damage. Wearing that high pony or righteous top bun looks lovely, but only if we’re looking out for our tresses as they’re stacked, pulled and sprayed.

Accessorize for Fall: Hats to Headbands
Of any hair staple, the headband has some serious staying power. You can still wear the stretchy, athletic kind (along with yoga pants), but there’s a trend toward fabric, turban-styles and even a leather comeback. In essence, if you can use a headband to strategically ward off Mr. Wind, you’re in business.

If you prefer to leave your hair down, but are looking for a way to keep your bangs from blowing out of control or the front of your hair off your face, try a simple braided headband. If you have serious braiding skills, try braiding a French braid across the front of your hair from temple to temple.

Put a Hat on it
When you’re trying to enjoy the gorgeous fall weather and don’t have time to do anything with your crown of glory, try a hat on. A cap of the soft and warm variety will add a pop of color or texture to your look, and it will keep your hair from flying around.

If hats aren’t your thing, rock some beachy waves. The looser and messier the better. Either go to bed with wet hair or spritz a wave-enhancing product onto your damp hair, like Aussie Sprunch Spray, and let it air-dry. The trick is to avoid over-styling and let the hat hold the tresses in tact!
