6 Tips for Making the Best Out of a Bad Hair Day

Good hair days are an elusive luxury for moms, simply because there is so little time to make them happen. But there are ways that even the busiest of moms can turn bad hair days into good ones. We have a few tips.

If you’re a mom of young kids, you probably consider a pony tail or freshly-washed hair, a good hair day, because very simply you have no time for fancy updos. But there are days when you wish you could look put together, even if just once a week. We have a few tips.

Lunchboxes packed, check; shoes on correct feet, check; cell phone and wallet in purse, check; front door locked, check; all children present in car and strapped into seats, check.

You run out the front door, making sure you yourself are wearing matching socks and shoes, drive them to school, put them on the school bus, do whatever you do every hectic morning. And then you remember your hair. Parts of it may be stuck to your head, while other random strands may be falling out of last night’s pony tail, some frizzy, some not, and your elastic is sliding to the edge of your dry ends. You panic, thinking of who may have already seen you like this, wondering how it’s possible to not have seen yourself in the mirror until you are well out of the house. You’re a mom. It’s possible.

But it doesn’t have to be this way, not every day at least. Here are some realistic tips for keeping bad hair days to a minimum.

  1. If you have long or medium-length hair, wash it the night before, fasten in a bun on top of your head, sleep. By morning, you will have wild and free waves.
  2. A French braid is all about sophistication. Braid your hair tightly for a sleek look, or leave some loose strands for a boho look.
  3. Went to bed with wet hair and woke up with a halo of frizz? Dab a couple of drops of oil into your hands and run through your hair. It’ll tame the mane and give your hair a wonderful shine.
  4. Trying to get your hair into a pony tail but strays are refusing to stay put? Spray on some hairpray and immediately blow dry the strays into place. They’ll stay there all day.
  5. If you don’t have time to wash your hair and the roots are starting to look a bit greasy, use a thick elastic headband to cover them. The rest of your hair gets oily after the roots, but if it’s looking flat, use a volumizing spray to give ti some body, and you have a glam 70s look.
  6. The healthier your hair, the less chances of a bad hair day! Using a hair mask, even just once a week, will help to protect your hair against damage and keep it hydrated and shiny.
