3 Skin Prep Tips for Your Next Big Event

Want beautiful and glowing skin at your big event? Here’s exactly what you need to do.

There’s plenty to take into consideration as a big event approaches. Whether it’s a wedding, black-tie affair or office party, you must find the perfect dress, choose the right shoes and pick the accessories to go with your ensemble.

As you construct the perfect look for that special night, don’t overlook the ultimate must-have: radiant skin. That means more than giving your face a good scrub the night before, and for many of us, getting flawless skin takes a little work. Makeup can only do so much.

Get on track to healthy-looking skin by preparing in advance with these tips.

Four to Six Weeks Before the Big Event
Four to six weeks before the big event is the perfect time to get a deep-cleansing facial. This will give your skin time to recover, as it may leave you with slight redness. Skin can sometimes break out, too, as the skin detoxes.

If you are acne-prone, use a facial cleanser that contains salicylic acid like Olay Total Effects Blemish Control Salicylic Acid Acne Cleanser. Salicylic acid helps unclog pores but does have a tendency to dry out skin, so getting an early start on usage will give you enough time to get dryness under control.

Three Weeks Before the Big Event
Three weeks out, begin a good exfoliation regimen two to three times a week. This will continue to keep skin free from dirt and oil.

The Olay Fresh Effects Powered Contour Cleansing System has soft bristles that are gentle enough on your skin while still removing any impurities. You also want to make sure to moisturize daily: While cleaning and exfoliating is good for the skin, you don’t want to dry it out.

One Week Before the Big Event
This is the time to maintain the routine you’ve established. Use a resurfacing product like Olay Regenerist Night Resurfacing Elixir. Remember to remove makeup nightly and continue to keep your skin clean and moisturized. Be sure to drink plenty of water — hydrated skin is healthy skin!
