3 Spa Secrets to Keep Skin Feeling Amazing

Give yourself the gift of an at-home spa treatment this season.

The holidays are the most wonderful time of the year, but there is no denying that all the running around, shopping for gifts, dry winter air and stress can take a toll on you.

After weeks of putting everyone else first, why not give yourself a gift with a little at-home pampering? You don’t have to spend a fortune at the spa to get great results and give your skin some quality pampering.

DIY Facial
With so many factors affecting your skin, taking 20 minutes for a mini-facial is well worth it.

1. Wash Properly
Take a minute to slowly and gently wash your face. Be sure to remove all the makeup. Before rinsing, massage the cleanser around your face in a circular motion — this will help decrease puffiness around the face.

2. Prep Your Pores
Next, it’s time for a gentle but deep cleanse. Soak a clean towel in warm water, wring out the excess and then drape it over your face. Sit back and relax for about 10 minutes while the towel does its magic.

The warmth of the towel softens your skin and opens up the pores for a gentle cleaning. Be sure to test temperature of the towel on your wrist before draping it over your face — the last thing you want is a burn!

3. Mini Peel
Now that your pores have been prepped, it’s time for the final step with a face peel. There are various face peel regimens, ranging from superficial to deep, for all skin types. For your first mini peel, it would be best to start with a milder application, like one that is labeled as a “superficial solution.” This removes any dirt or makeup — often left behind even after your daily cleansing routine — that is trapped deep in the pores.

Get Baby-soft Skin
Since so much focus is on the skin of our face, we often forget about the rest of our body. Use a scrub in the shower along your legs, shoulders, elbows and back to remove dead skin cells and dirt. Follow up with a body moisturizer, which will work better after you’ve exfoliated.

Soothe Tired Feet
Give your tired feet a break with a refreshing scrub, including ingredients like peppermint or citrus. Before bed, slather your feet with a heavy cream. Throw on a pair of socks if you really want to lock in that moisture.
