5 Tips to Get Rid of Dark Circles

Use these tips to get rid of pesky dark circles under your eyes.

Getting rid of dark under eye circles is easier than you think — and it requires little work! While you might feel like you’ll need to layer on the makeup, read on to see how to reduce dark circles naturally and learn a quick, surefire way to conceal them.

1. Who Gets Dark Circles?
When it comes to dark circles, genes play a role but so do factors such as poor eating habits, lack of sleep, dehydration, aging and sun exposure. Sleep on a good pillow that supports your head, include lots of antioxidants in your diet and drink sufficient water.

2. How Can You Avoid Them?
Apply an eye-care product specifically for puffiness or dark circles, with ingredients such as kojic acid, retinol, vitamin C and vitamin K. (These help to increase skin’s thickness and even out pigmentation.)

3. Use Foundation
Although foundation offers less coverage than the average concealer, it might be all you need if your dark circles are moderate, so apply foundation before you conceal. If you need more coverage, pat rather than wipe it on.

4. Tips and Tricks with Concealer
Concealer should be only a shade or two lighter than foundation and should have a warm (yellow, peach, apricot) rather than cool undertone. With a flat brush, apply under the inner corners of eyes and along the sides of your nose. To blend, pat and press with your fingertip.

5. Finishing Strong
Powder lightly under eyes immediately after application so concealer doesn’t settle into lines. Avoid blue, green or purple eye makeup — choose warm neutrals, golds and peaches. Curl lashes and apply ample mascara, only on the top lid. Draw attention to lips with bright lipstick and a smile!
