Regardless of how many times you wash your face, if you’re not doing it properly, you might be missing out on all the benefits. Check out these tips so you can get the most out of a proper washing and finish off with a healthy, radiant complexion.
What Do You Need?
For a proper cleansing, make sure you have these inexpensive items on hand:
- An eye makeup remover
- Soft cotton balls or tissues
- Damp moisturizing wipes
- A soft towel
- pH-neutral cleanser
Step 1: Remove Your Makeup
In the evening, removing all traces of makeup is crucial so your skin can be cleaned deep down. Pour a little eye makeup remover onto a cotton ball or tissue and clean your eyes gently. Next, remove makeup from your face with damp wipes.
Step 2: Wash Your Skin
Wet your face with warm water. Rub the gentle cleanser in with circular movements. Most cleansers designed for the face have a neutral pH. Stay away from using the washcloth you use in the shower.
Step 3: Clean Smart
If you have normal, oily or combination skin, you can use a suitable foaming cleanser. If you have dry skin, use a cream or lotion instead.
Step 4: Rinse Well
Rinse your face well with warm water. Dry your skin with a soft towel. Don't rub skin vigorously — it can cause redness and other irritation.
Step 6: Repeat!
Do this process in the evening, but also the morning. Many women skip this step in the morning. However, we must remove the dirt that accumulates on the face during the night, as this is when the skin renewal process happens. Repeat all the steps indicated (apart from makeup removal if that was done correctly in the evening).
Step 7: Keep It Simple
Make sure you keep things simple. Avoid trendy products — the simpler the cleansing, the better skin will behave. Whether you have dry or oily skin, clean it carefully morning and evening.
While none of these steps are revolutionary per se, when done together, you can rest easy knowing you’re taking care of your face.
