5 Must-know Summer Beauty Tips

5 Must-know Summer Beauty Tips

Sweat-proof your makeup routine this summer with our 5 tips.

By: Nadine Jolie Courtney

Summer’s arrival brings some major advantages: trips to the beach, barbeques with your friends and longer days.

Unfortunately, there are also some pretty clear downsides, namely, heat, heat, heat!

When the mercury’s rising, your routine should be tweaked to match it — otherwise you’ll find yourself with melty makeup and frizzy locks. Here are five simple but effective tips for beating the heat, even in the dead of summer!

1. Use a CC Cream
The last thing you want in the sweltering heat is to apply a heavy foundation all over your face. It all but guarantees breakouts, and will likely melt off by the end of the day! Instead, try a lighter option like Olay CC Cream. It hydrates to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, helps even skin tone, and also contains SPF 15.

2. Use Clinical-strength Deodorant
In the heat of summer, no ordinary deodorant will do — choose one that gives you 100 percent odor protection, like Secret Clinical Strength, to ensure you stay smelling fresh even through the hottest temps.

3. Minimize Makeup
The other three seasons are for trying trends and new techniques. In summer, it’s all about looking breezy and natural! Try focusing on one simple area of your face, like your eyes, and leaving the rest bare.

Try applying eyeliner to the upper and lower lash line, then smudging it slightly with a cotton swab. It gives a sultry, effortless look — perfect for pairing with those beachy waves and flawless skin.

4. Opt for Updos
When the temps are in the stratosphere, a heavy curtain of hair hanging around your face is guaranteed to drive you crazy. It’s easy to cool yourself off with cute braids, buns or an updo — equally chic and practical!

Get your style looking sleek with a product that contains argan oil, like Pantene Truly Natural Shine Serum + Argan Oil. It will hydrate and give hair an intense shine. Or work the product into wet hair and then put it up. When you take it down at day’s end, you’ll have gorgeous, touchably-soft waves!

5. Go for Water-resistant Products
There’s surely a pool party or three in your future, and if you take a spontaneous dip, you don’t want to end up with your mascara smeared down your cheeks! Swap your regular version for a waterproof one and splash away!

I use olay body wash with shea butter, I can shave with it and it softens my skin so well I usually don't even have to use lotion! I also use not only waterproof mascara but I also use waterproof eyeliner. I also have very curly hair so I must use a frizz free product on my hair so I do that daily after I shower. I know it's already been mentioned but I also use Secret clinical strength deodorant! hope that this helps someone <3

I always use Mattifying gel before foundation/concealer. For easy & light 'Tinted Moisturizer', take a bit of light,SPF-full moisturizer, like Fresh Oil of Olay, & add a bit of concealer or foundation, blend until color is smooth & opaque as liked. Rub it in easily, for a bit of light coverage.Dust translucent powder (I mix mineral powder w/cornstarch!) over for a cool look. Or, use self-tanner for face daily to keep a glow that only needs a powder.
