Celebrate Your Shape with Form-Fitting Fashion

Nothing boosts your confidence like an outfit that shows off your best features.

By: Lucy Lopez

When you’re wearing an outfit that truly fits your body, you radiate confidence. Whether your shape is curvy, athletic, pear or round, you look your best in clothing that highlights your features and makes you feel great. Here are my top tips for accentuating your figure – and learning to love your body – without feeling self-conscious.

Find your best fit
Finding figure-flattering clothing starts with knowing your body type:

  • Hourglass shapes have a large bust, wide hips and a small waist
  • Athletic shapes have a mostly straight torso with some curves at the hips
  • Pear shapes sport more curves in the hip area than in the bust
  • Round shapes carry more weight in the middle area and have smaller shoulders and hips

Once you know your body type, choose clothing that calls out your best features. For instance, sundresses come in a variety of flattering styles – and there are so many colors and patterns to choose from! If you’re tall and have fewer curves like me (an athletic shape), shift dresses can be particularly flattering. If you have an hourglass shape, look for something that cinches at the waist and highlights your smallest area. A-line dresses are the best bet for pear shapes, while dresses that add definition to your waist are best for round shapes.

Tip: Protect your most beloved clothes with Downy Liquid Fabric Softener, which fights stretching, fading, pilling and fuzz while infusing a fresh scent.

Accentuate your favorite asset
What part of your body do you love most? I’m a leg girl, but I know some of my friends look amazing in a backless dress or an off-the-shoulder top. Opt for outfits that highlight your favorite attribute. If you love your legs, go for a shift dress or shorts and a structured top. If you love your back, try a backless maxi dress.

The idea is to be balanced. For example, if you’re wearing shorts or a skirt to show off your legs, wear a top with longer sleeves. Focusing on one area that you really love gives you a starting point for feeling confident and loving your body.

Tip: No one likes laundry day, but you can make the task easier with Gain Flings Scent Duets, which combine detergent, the stain-fighting power of Oxi and the fresh scent of Febreze. Just toss in a pac with your load – no measuring or mess required!

Flaunt your style
Whether you’re drawn to classic, feminine, bohemian, or eclectic clothing, catering to your preferred style is an easy way to show off your personality.

Orgullosa community member Gina is the picture of confidence in a bold leather jacket paired with metallic accessories and flattering leggings. Her outfit accentuates her body’s best features and calls out her personal style.

What makes you feel your best? Is it a little black dress or a T-shirt, jeans and heels? One of the most liberating things you can do is dress for yourself first.

Tip: Style can be more than merely visual. Wash your clothes with an Unstopables in-wash scent booster that fits your personality – choose from Fresh, Shimmer, Lush or Spring scents. Even clothes that are stored away in the closet will smell fresh for up to 12 weeks!
