The Billboard Latin Music Awards are just around the corner, and we can’t wait to see what the stars will be wearing as they walk the red carpet in tropical South Beach. Whether you’re attending the awards show, preparing for a glamorous night out, or styling an outfit for a landmark event, here are a few tips on how you, too, can create red carpet-ready look with a rock star edge.

Choose a bold color: Though you can never go wrong with a minimalist black gown, or a bold lip, fashion icons like Demi Lovato have made red carpet history by taking risks and embracing bright and robust hues. Demi has wowed in edgy neon pink and even a classic floor-length scarlet red gown.

Mix classic and edgy elements: Demi has mastered the art of exuding elegance while staying true to her adventurous punk-inspired aesthetic—a feat she's accomplished through mixing and matching minimalist accessories with bold beauty touches. We’ve seen her mix a classic gown and sleek clutch with an of-the-moment ear cuff (and of course her youthful, half-shaved ‘do!).

Think outside the box with your hair: A total hair chameleon, Demi often makes the most emphatic statements via her unexpected and cool-as-can-be hair color choices. In fact, she’s been at the forefront of the hair-as-an-accessory movement. While we're not suggesting you go bright pink and half-shaved, the one thing we can learn from Demi is to experiment—whether that's with lush highlights, edgy ombre or simply a change in your usual hair do. It'll make all the difference!

Avoid a fashion faux-pas: Can you imagine striking a pose in front of a photographer and later discovering white deodorant marks on your gown? The horror! To ensure you don’t endure any such embarrassment, make sure you’re prepared for any possible mishap. Wear a clear deodorant like Secret Outlast Clear Gel that leaves no white residue behind and keep a deodorant removing sponge in your clutch. A mini lint brush, safety pins, and static guard spray should also be incorporated in your fashion emergency kit. Similarly, if you suspect your period could make an appearance at the most inopportune of times, take the necessary precautions and use a super absorbent tampon or pad, making sure to place some extras in your bag.
