How to Rock the Menswear Look

How to Rock the Menswear Look

How to make a menswear inspired pantsuit look très chic.

By: Sydne Summer

Menswear is a huge trend for fall. When done correctly, this look is super chic — but also comes with a high risk of going dreadfully wrong. Don’t fret: Here is a fool-proof formula for making it work.

The Suit
Fit is extremely important here. You want the jacket to be tailored and the pants to skim your legs. Anything too baggy does not work for this trend. If you can't find the perfect suit, go for separates. It's pretty easy to match black or navy, so you can even purchase a jacket and pants from different brands.

The Top
Take more inspiration from the men and add a button-up, but instead of a structured option go for a silk top. The drape gives a feminine feel to the look.

The Accessories
The easiest way to make your suit more feminine is with a pair of pumps. Pointy shoes are your best bet since they help elongate the body. Your jewelry choice will depend on the occasion. If you’re dressing for work, accessorize with dainty necklaces and gold rings. You can always add a gold stack of bangles to make the look more fashion forward. For an evening event, choose one statement piece, either a large pendant or a cocktail ring. Keep the rest of your jewelry more delicate.

The Handbag
For work, carry a statement purse either with studs, a bold color or vibrant print. For an evening out, swap your large handbag for a sparkly clutch.

The main thing to keep in mind when trying out the menswear trend is to always add feminine accents. It's all about taking inspiration from the men, not dressing exactly like them.
