Beauty Tips for Standing Out on Quinceañera

Check out these beauty tips – for mom and daughter – to stand out for the quinceañera!

Whether you're the coming-of-age teen or the proud mamá, there's nothing more special than a quinceañera. It's an incredibly memorable day for both mom and daughter – mothers seeing their daughters become young women and daughters enjoying an unforgettable moment full of love, friends and family.

Leading up to the big day can often be a bit stressful, so I’ve come up with some beauty tips – for both you and your daughter – to help you both stand out for this momentous occasion!

PARTY PREP:

Create an Emergency Kit
A beauty emergency kit is a must, especially if you’re not having the party at home. Moms are supposed to be ready for everything, right? So show your hija you’ve got her back for anything she might need!

Beauty essentials for your emergency kit can include:

How to Make Her Hair and Makeup Last
My biggest suggestion to make hair last: Skip a day of shampooing so the hair is on day two, allowing curls to hold better. So if the party is Sunday, have your daughter wash her hair on Friday with the Pantene Smooth & Sleek Shampoo to beat frizz. Before curling, spray a little bit of the Herbal Essences Dry Shampoo for extra hold. Top off all hairstyles with an alcohol-free hairspray to ensure long-lasting styles!

To keep makeup lasting all day, use the Olay Fresh Effects Clear Skin Redness & Pore Reducing Mattifier before foundation. Top off all makeup looks with a translucent powder and setting spray so it can survive through the fiesta.

TWO STYLING LOOKS TO CONSIDER:

Beach Waves + Bronze Glow
Hair: Start by sleeping with a loose braid on dry hair to create natural waves. In the morning, add some definition by using a curling wand (minus the clamp) and curling the hair away from her face. Then, middle part the hair and gather hair into a half up ponytail with a small elastic. Create a space at the top of the ponytail and loop the hair through to create a twist. Add some sparkle with decorative bobby pins.

Makeup: Use bronze metallic shadows all over the lid and a matte brown in the crease. To smoke out the look, use a dark brown pencil liner on the upper and lower lash line and smudge out. Put a sparkly champagne-colored eyeshadow in the inner corner to brighten the eyes. Top off with volumizing mascara for longer lashes. Blend in a liquid highlight on the high points of the face and top off with a powder highlight in a similar shade to create a long-lasting glow. (Pro Tip: For fairer skin, look for a highlight with a pink undertone, and for olive skin, opt for a lighter gold color.)

Old Hollywood Glamour
Hair: Start out with a deep side part. Curl hair toward the face with a curling wand and brush out lightly. Leave as-is, or add a sparkly barrette on the side with less hair for a voluminous swept back hairstyle.

Makeup: Begin the makeup by applying a matte cream color all over the lid, a warm brown to the crease and a darker brown in the outer corner. You’ll want it to look fairly natural since the liner and lipstick will be the stars of this look. Using a liquid liner, create a cat eye wing. Apply a red lip stain and top off with a crimson red lipstick. If she wants a more natural option, a warm-toned nude lipstick compliments this look as well.

I hope your hija’s quinceañera is everything she can imagine, and that these beauty tips make getting ready a little bit easier!
