You’re a Gem: Wearing Aquamarine

Show off this stunning bluish-green shade with these beauty tips.

Since March marks the official start of spring, it’s only fitting that this month’s gemstone sets the stage for the season spent outside, poolside and seaside. Aquamarine is a soothing shade of blue-green that works with every skin tone and hair color. Here are three ways to incorporate it into your everyday look.

An aqua jacket instantly brightens up any outfit. While it’s still cold, wear it with a black sweater and tights. As the weather warms up, incorporate crisp whites and bare your legs in a skirt. You can even mix the cool color with warmer tones like pink and red.

The one thing to remember when wearing aqua: bronzer and blush! You don’t want your face to get washed out against such a vibrant color. Add a bit of soft color to your lips as well, like a Pinks-to-Roses shade from the COVERGIRL LipPerfection Lipcolor line.

A delicate gemstone pendant matches everything in your wardrobe. For more of a statement, try a bib necklace that mimics shades of the ocean. Aquamarine literally translates to “water of the sea,” after all.

Coordinate your manicure with your gems. Go for a lighter shade with COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in Constant Caribbean or Skylight or embrace the nighttime sea with Midnight Magic.

For a subtle nod to March’s gemstone, try eyeliner, like COVERGIRL Ink It! in Aquamarine Ink. Start with neutral shadow then line your lids with the cool shade.

For a bolder look, substitute your traditional smoky eye for a brighter look. COVERGIRL Eye Enhancers makes it easy with a kit in Turquoise Tempest, Sapphire Sparkle or Sterling Blue.

When rocking cool colors on your lids, keep the rest of your look warm. Add plenty of mascara and don’t forget the bronzer and blush. Keep your lips simple with a natural gloss.
