For those of us who end up wearing the same pair of earrings four out of five days each week (if we’re lucky to wear them at all), there’s still hope to savor some fall-inspired change in our own unique way.
There’s this short (but sweet) window of time just after the pools close and just before the holiday haze sets in that I claim as mine. We all appreciate the season of pumpkin spice lattes and the feeling of crackling leaves beneath knee-high boots. Fall brings the promise of change and the surprises of the new, so for me, autumn signals a chance to catch my breath, take in the colors – and then to step out and own it.
Now is the time to recalibrate our lives after unwieldy summers. It’s a great time to try something different. And it’s not for our house – or our children or our best friends or partners – it’s just for us. It’s all in the name of giving small changes a chance. So let’s do this.
Silky Skin for the Win
If you’re like me, you may not have been quite as perfect about applying sunscreen this summer as you wish you had. Harsh summer rays can do a number on your skin –especially the sensitive skin on your face. And now that we’re moving into cooler, dryer weather, your skin is going to need a little tender loving care.
Not many of us have time for expensive facials and salon treatments. So try Olay Regenerist Micro-sculpting Cream to hydrate and renew your skin, giving your face fresh life in only days. And just like that, I’m OK with my big sunglasses coming off to stay.
The ‘90s Called
And they’re coming back! I’ll admit I’m fine with that. Oversized and off-the-shoulder sweaters are in – great news for those of us who like to scrub it in the most fashion-forward way possible.
For a more feminine look, check out some of the floral patterns filling up shops right now. Flowy, bo-ho skirts and dresses, blouses, and even tights and leggings in big bold floral patterns are hot. Pair an oversized sweater with some floral-print leggings for style that will carry you comfortably through the cool fall season.
The fishtail braid is a beautiful style and lucky for us, it’s simple to do – but still bold enough to make a difference. Here’s how to pull it off:
- Secure a ponytail at the nape of your neck and tie with an elastic band you’re comfortable throwing away later. Unlike a traditional braid, divide your ponytail into two even sections
- Now for the weaving: Take a small piece (1/2 inch or so) of one section and pull it over to the other section. Repeat on the other side, making sure to pull from the outside of each section
- Continue this weaving action all the way down the ponytail and secure with an elastic band at the bottom
- Cut the top elastic band and pull down on the braid to make sure it’s loose and comfortable. Finish your fishtail with a quick hit of Pantene Airspray Strong Hold Hairspray – it’s got great hold without alcohol, harsh scent or stiffness
