5 Special Ways My Husband and Daughter Bond

One mom appreciates the unique bond and relationship between her husband and child.

After growing up in a home with five other women, I am fascinated by the adorable, unique ways my husband and child bond, communicate, and play together. They share secret jokes, a very special musical talent, and a similar personality. In fact, though I stayed home to care for our daughter and nursed her for the first three years of her life, her main focus was definitely Dada. Her whole face lit up when he walked into a room. She fell asleep in his arms better than anywhere else. And when she was upset, there was no one she wanted more than him.

After she turned 3, she shifted her focus more onto me, as kids often do. But still, I think they have a wonderful, unique relationship -- one that, I’ll be honest, I admire and sometimes envy just a bit. It’s creative, it’s sweet, it’s loving, and it's also serious. In many ways, it feels less challenging than my own relationship with my kid, or with my own parents even! Much of this, I believe, is based on the amount of time they spend together each day: just enough to know each other perfectly, but not enough to drive each other bonkers.
