Whether you’re packing up your child’s backpack with supplies or hitting up sales for a new school year wardrobe, back-to-school season is in full swing! As excited as kids and moms can both be to forge ahead into the next chapter, the transitional time is also a prime time for gasp-worthy, giggle-inducing moments. Here, moms share their cutest, funniest, goofiest anecdotes about back-to-school time.

1. “A new student was touring my son’s preschool. When the child stopped by my son’s classroom and was introduced to his class as the new kid, my son loudly blurted out, ‘Awwkwaaard!’

2. “My daughter was in kindergarten, and I was told that every day, when they counted the number chart for 100 days, whenever they got to the number 46, she would announce to the class, ‘My mom is 46!!!’ She also kept reminding me that a classmate’s grandma was younger than me. It still amazes her!”

3. “My 5-year-old son had to be dragged to class while my toddler walked right in like he owned the place and sat in his older brother’s chair all proud of himself! Then, the older one threw a fit that I was leaving … while my toddler threw a fit that he didn't get to stay!”

4. “I show up to my daughter’s open house, and I'm looking around at all the kids’ art projects. I come to one by my daughter, and it's an answer to the question, ‘What do you think your mommy does while you're at school?’ My daughter’s answer: ‘My mommy likes to watch TV all day,’ followed by a picture of me lying on a couch with a remote in hand. I was mortified! And it’s SO not true, seeing as I work at her school four days a week!”

5. “I told my daughter, ‘Today is the last Wednesday you have before school starts. Your first day is next Wednesday.’ She asked, ‘Where do I go on Thursday?' Me: 'School.' Her: 'And Friday?' Me: 'School.' Her: 'And Saturday?' Me: 'You’ll be home Saturday and Sunday.' Her: 'And Monday?' Me: 'School.' Her: 'And Tuesday?' Me: 'School.' Her: 'AGAIN? Why do I have to go so much?' Me: 'So you can learn to a bunch of stuff and become very intelligent.' Her: 'I’m intelligent! I can learn fast! I don’t think I’ll need more than a few days of school, Mama.' She has no idea what she is in for!”

6. “My daughter loves animals, and she always makes a point to gather up the earthworms on the pavement after a rainstorm to ‘rescue them.’ So when she went back to school, she started doing it on the playground! How do I know? She went up to the recess aide and asked, ‘Can you please friend my Mom on Facebook so you can tell her that I rescued worms at school?’”

What’s the funniest thing that happened when you sent your kids back to school?
