The Most Delightful – and a Few Not-So-Delightful – Mommy Moments

From tender snuggles to unexpected spit up, every moment is still a mommy moment.

A new mom remembers the first time her baby laughs or rolls over. But she also remembers the first time she had to vacuum crackers and fruit snacks out of the crevices in the car seat. Our My Black is Beautiful ambassadors share some of their delightful, and some less-so, moments of being a mom.

The Delightful

From Ebony:
After my daughter was born, the doctor laid her on my chest. I looked down at her and she looked up to me — and she stuck her little finger in my mouth.

From Ebony:
My daughter told me, “Mommy, I’m proud of you. You make me happy.” After all she and I had experienced together, she confirmed the hard work, sleepless nights, and tears were all worth it.

From Jere:
My favorite mommy moment has to be holding my daughters for the very first time. After months of flutters, butterflies, and straight up kicks, it was amazing to finally meet the little person who grew so beautifully inside of me.

The Not-quite-so Delightful

From Ebony:
When Zari was 8 months, we went to the park where I would toss her gently in the air above my head and she would laugh hysterically. After a ton of giggles and one too many “wees,” she spit up — in my mouth.

From Jorian:
As I changed Matthew’s diaper, I cleaned him with a wipe or two and lifted his legs to do the quick dirty-diaper-clean-diaper swap. And as I did, he fired a projectile of poop straight out of his bum and up my arm. His perfect aim left a line of mushy baby poop straight up my forearm.

From Jorian:
Walking hand-in-hand with my son, I noticed he was walking slowly and struggling. I looked and his pants were completely down. His britches were literally around his ankles — diaper and legs exposed. In my haste to make it out of our front door on time, I had forgotten to zip and button his pants.

From Jere:
My daughters are growing up so quickly. It sometimes leaves me wishing I could stop time for just a little while. Where does the time go?
