There’s nothing quite like spending quality time with your grandchildren – looking after them for the night or even a few days can cue non-stop fun and laughter. But it’s always good to have a few activities up your sleeve, so here are some ideas for your next grandkid stay:
Indoor or Outdoor Campout
Set up a tent in your backyard, start a bonfire and create a full-fledged camping trip from the comforts of your own home. And if it’s too cold outside, bring the campsite inside. You can make a fort with blankets, and even cook up some s’mores – without a fire – over your stovetop or in the microwave!
Restaurant Dining at Home
For a dinner to remember, get the whole family involved! Start by choosing what you’ll serve and writing out a menu to order from. When you’re ready to cook, assign everyone to a different cooking station – one child can be your sous chef, while another can oversee timing and table prep.
When your family meal is complete, it’s all hands on deck for cleaning. You can incorporate stations here, too – one child can help with rinsing, another can head up drying, and Dawn dish soap will leave your dishes squeaky clean.
And don’t forget about dessert! We all love spoiling our grandchildren, so why not indulge with some delicious desserts? Together, you can make marshmallow cereal treats, ice cream flurries or even dessert sushi. And to make their desserts extra special, you can set up a decoration station with their favorite toppings so they can decorate it themselves.
Cleanup Tip: Don’t worry about the post-baking mess – Swiffer Sweeper will quickly trap and lock that dirt and dust on your floors, and Cascade Platinum Pacs will get your dirty dessert dishes looking squeaky-clean.
Movie and Game Night
Pick out a film together and make it an at-home movie night. If you have or can borrow a projector, you can show the film on a large scale on the living room wall – or even outside up the side of the house. Put cushions on the floor, pop some popcorn and snuggle in!
And if the kiddos can’t sit still for a whole movie, let each grandchild pick their favorite board or card game and make it a game night instead.
