12 Moms Share the Craziest Things Found in Their Purses

There’s no telling what you’ll find inside a mom’s purse on any given day.

A mother’s purse is a lot of things -- a first aid kit, a snack pantry, a diaper bag, a clothes closet, a library, a toy box, a science experiment gone horribly wrong -- and there’s often no telling what you’ll find in there next. We asked some moms to tell us about the craziest (or funniest or scariest or grossest or most embarrassing) things they’ve found in their purses, and here’s what they said:

1. “Two earthworms and some leaves and sticks in my front zip pocket! My daughter found them on the sidewalk after a rainstorm at the park and wanted to save them. So Mom’s purse was the best place for them, apparently.”

2. “Gummy bears. One day I was cleaning my purse out and there were about 10 of them in there. They were hard and stuck together.”

3. “Rocks and cheese. I have an 11-year-old and a 17-year-old and still manage to always have rocks and cheese in my purse.”

4. “My child’s dirty undies. (Not super dirty, if you know what I mean. But definitely used.) I was about to wipe my face with them. Lovely.”

5. “A half-eaten sandwich and chewed gum. I put my foot down when they asked me to carry the frog in my purse.”

6. “I reached in my purse and handed my daughter a tampon instead of string cheese.”

7. “My son stole my keys and left me his toy keys. I discovered this after I had already walked out the door and locked it.”

8. “OLD bottles. Like, coagulated milk/formula-throw-it-out-don’t-open-the-toxic-agents old. O-L-D.”

9. “Since becoming a sports/dance mom, we have had highland shoes, toe pads, hockey pucks, false eyelashes, jockstraps (yeah, do not ask), and false hair.”

10. “Unwrapped tampons. Old food (fries). Pre-chewed gum. Underwear. There’s half a cereal bar in there now that gets stuck all over my hands every time I search for my keys. I should go do something about that...”

11. “I once went to a work meeting, pulled out my calendar, and a small rubber whale came out too.”

12. “A tube of diaper rash cream that wasn’t closed tightly.”

13. "I've found items I did not purchase from whatever store we were in earlier that day/week. My kid is trying to frame me for shoplifting."

14. "When we were house hunting, my 6-year-old daughter had to poop. It was a vacant house, so no TP. We were in the middle of nowhere with no other options; I had to use my sock as a wipe. I put it in a plastic bag that I had in my purse. I didn't remember it UNTIL THE NEXT DAY when I went grocery shopping and there it was. POOP SOCK IN MY PURSE."

What’s the craziest thing you’ve found in your purse since becoming a mom?
