12 Moms Share What They Really Think of Baby 'Sprinkles'

Love them? Hate them? Seems like everyone has a different opinion on ‘sprinkles.’

When it comes to celebrating a woman's pregnancy, there really isn't too much that can be deemed "controversial." Except one thing: sprinkles. It seems like when it comes to sprinkles -- small scale baby showers for a woman's second (or third or fourth) pregnancy -- people have wildly varying opinions. (Some people think they're great. Others? Not so much.)

We asked 12 mamas who've either been to a sprinkle or had one of their own to share what they really think of them -- and boy, did they not hold back!

1. "I had a sprinkle with my third. It was a surprise. Initially, I wasn't into them at all, as I thought they were kind of greedy, but once I was there, celebrating with my friends, it made me so much more excited to have my baby, and I loved all the support I felt. Sprinkles all the way!" -- Kristine C., Phoenix, Arizona

2. "To be honest, I'm not really a fan of sprinkles -- especially if it's for a baby of the same sex. People bring gifts when they come visit the baby. Why make them buy a gift and come to a party also?" -- Erica M., New York City

3. "The only way sprinkles are OK in my book is if they're for a mom who's having a baby of a different gender. And even then it's debatable. It's not like the babies can't use the same crib, stroller, and play gym!" -- Julie T., Westfield, New Jersey

4. "I don't see anything wrong with sprinkles at all! It's for a sweet baby! If that's not a reason to celebrate, what is?" -- Karen W., Chicago, Illinois

5. "I had a sprinkle myself and recently planned one for my sister-in-law. I think they're great! Having a baby is hard no matter how many times you've done it. Why not have a gathering where everyone gets together to support and love on the mama? Also, you can never have enough diapers!" -- Lisa T., Providence, Rhode Island

6. "I had never heard of a sprinkle until recently when my friend had one, and I can't say that I'm a huge fan! I had just gone to her baby shower a little over a year prior! And I spent a lot of money!" -- Courtney A., New York City

7. "If they're really small scale -- say, at someone's house with just a request for diapers or a onesie -- I don't see anything wrong with them." -- Briana L., Manalapan, New Jersey

8. "Depends on the situation and who they're for. I can see, like, a single mom wanting to have one, but someone with a lot of money who's on her third kid -- not necessary!" -- Carrie R., New York City

9. "I think they're sweet! I actually had no idea that anyone felt otherwise!" -- Chloe M., Los Angeles, California

10. "I didn't know they were called sprinkles, but certainly OK with them. My girlfriends and I have all had small gatherings to celebrate any babies we've had after our firsts." -- Courtney T., Portland, Oregon

11. "I like them better than showers! There's less pressure, you don't have to spend as much money, and who doesn't love a free lunch?" Joanna D., Los Angeles, California

12. "I think they're OK if the person who's pregnant doesn't know about them. When they're the ones planning it, it's a little crass." -- Sarah V., Denver, Colorado
