We have a million and one reasons to say “no” to our kids every day. “No, you can’t sell your brother.” “No, you can’t wear your brand new sneakers to go splash in mud puddles.” And on and on it goes. It’s mind-numbingly exhausting.

So here’s a question for you: When was the last time you said “yes” to your kids? Sorry, moms, but “Yes, I really said you should get to bed,” doesn’t count.

There are countless child behavior books out there encouraging parents to say “no” less often, but you don’t necessarily need to start your parenting over from scratch. You just need to find a way to incorporate “yes” a little more often, and stop feeling guilty when you do.
