How Dads Help Most at Home -- According to Moms

Thank goodness for dads who handle these frequent, tedious, and annoying tasks at home.

Some dads are more helpful around the house than others, it appears. (Side note: I’m sad to report that NO dads are as helpful as moms, according to the moms, kids, and even dads I surveyed). But there are thankfully many useful things dads do at home, every day, and moms are definitely thankful for each of these tedious, difficult, or annoying tasks their spouses handle, so they don’t have to!

In a survey of more than 40 moms, they shared what they feel are the most helpful -- and sometimes surprising and seriously awesome -- duties their husbands take care of around the house, on a regular basis. Here’s what they listed:

1. Take out the trash and recycling.

2. Make coffee.

3. Make awesome breakfasts (especially pancakes).

4. Walk the dog.

5. Put the kids’ bikes, scooters, and sports gear away and organize and tidy the garage.

6. Make sure all the doors are locked, windows closed, and garage is shut before bed.

7. Pay the bills.

8. Care for the yard -- this includes many chores, depending on the location of home, size of yards, and seasons, such as pick up dog poop, rake leaves, mow lawn, clean up lawn toys and grill area, cover garden furniture and put cushions away, mulch the plants, deal with sprinklers and garden hoses and lighting, prune trees, clean pool, hang holiday lights, etc.

9. Vacuum!

10. Iron their own pants or shirts for work.
