Who Will You Cheer For? Fútbol, Family and Fun

Of course you’ll root for your home country, but there’s plenty more going on during the big game.

This summer, the U.S. is going to get mega-hot during the month of June! The red, white and blue will be out in full force – playing their hearts out on the fútbol field for thousands of supporters on their home turf. But more importantly, there’s a good chance your home country is playing in the tournament as well.

You don't need to be a sports or soccer fan to enjoy these matches. When it comes to cheering on your home country, any reason will do. The energy, the roar of the sea of supporters and showing the world you are the champions makes anyone's heart explode with pride.

But it's not just about supporting your home team. Like many Latinas in the U.S., we’re a mix of two (or more!) cultures, making life double the fun. So when it comes to major sports events and backing a team, you can cheer for both.

Of course if your team gets knocked out, you’ll still have another team to show your pride in. And if both are out, then you can just join in the fun and support any of the teams – which comes down to whomever is having a viewing party! It’s all about the love for our teams, the atmosphere and having a good time with family and friends.

Even if your home country isn't playing, it shouldn't stop you from enjoying the fun and enjoying the excitement that comes with watching a game. The fact is, fútbol brings people together and that's what matters the most. So get out and pick a team, any team, put on your jerseys, paint your face or wear a funky wig because this summer is going to be a scorcher of a good time!
