12 (Not-So) Guilty Pleasures Moms Sneak -- and the Kids Have No Idea!

Shhh! Moms reveal the secret little joys they sneak when the kids are otherwise occupied.

Moms work so hard, all the time, to care for their families. Often, they work alone, too. And while moms are usually too busy to feel lonely, as they multitask packing lunches, planning birthdays, giving back rubs, making dinner, folding laundry, commuting, working, and so much more, they do, sometimes, sneak in a very secret delight, or two, when the kids are out -- just some simple, innocent little private joys that help make motherhood more manageable and way more fun. Here are 12 great examples:

1. One mom sneaks her kids’ cookies when they're at school. (She baked or bought them after all, right?)

2. My kid is allergic to a lot of food, and I stay home to cook for her. But sometimes, when she’s in school, I go out and enjoy eating all sorts of delicious foods like eggs and shellfish, because I LOVE them and can’t have them anywhere near my child.

3. Another mom schedules playdates with moms SHE enjoys most instead of the kids her toddler prefers.

4. My neighbor secretly schedules her babies’ naps so she can watch her favorite TV shows.

5. So many moms sneak in a million kisses and snuggles when their kids are asleep, because they won't protest then! (I’m so guilty of this myself, since Day 1 as a mom.)

6. One mom who is very strict about TV time with her kids and only allows them to watch a few hours a weekend secretly parks herself on the couch when the kids are not home and enjoys all her favorite shows while she folds piles of laundry.

9. With three loud teenagers in her house, one mom is always telling them to turn down the volume, but when they’re out, she secretly cranks her favorite tunes to keep her motivated through hours of tedious housework.

10. One mom with a toddler and a baby at home pretends everyone has to nap in the middle of the day. But as soon as her kids fall asleep, she gets up and enjoys reading her favorite books or magazines, taking a bath, or eating her favorite food. Her kids never know what they’ve missed!

11. Another mom is big on table manners at family meals. But when she’s eating lunch alone at home, she puts her feet up and reads or watches TV.

12. A mom with two kids teaches them that when a meal is over, it’s over. Kitchen is closed! But secretly, she indulges in late-night snacks after finishing dishes, tucking kids in, and walking the dog. Who’s watching, anyway?
