8 Toddler Moms Reveal the Secret Ways They Keep Romance Alive in Their Marriages

Put the spark back into your marriage with these eight tips from real moms.

Let's get real here for a minute, moms. Kids? They're kinda romance killers. Sure, they're adorable and sweet and make you feel a love you never in a million years could have imagined, but they don't exactly "set the mood" for you and your partner.

When we have little ones, it's easy to get completely caught up in them, while sort of putting our romantic relationships on the back burner. (Sad, but true.) That said, though, it's super important to at least try to keep the romance alive, being that, you know, you and your significant other are the two people who made said adorable, sweet kids.

We asked eight moms with young children how they managed to keep things (at least somewhat) hot and heavy with their husbands. And, as it turns out, it really isn't all that difficult. It just takes a little planning!

1. "Weekends away. That's key. And date nights, strict bedtimes, and utilizing nap time." -- Sasha B., mom of a 7-year-old girl, 5-year-old boy, and a 1-year-old girl

2. "Even if one parent is staying at home and money is tight, invest in a sitter or child care now and then (or get family to help), so you two can have some precious quality time. It will go a long way in keeping the spark alive." -- Catherine S., mom of a toddler boy and girl

3. "Have one of you cook dinner while the other is feeding the kids, then, when your precious angels are in bed, eat by candlelight, just the two of you. And don't spend the whole time talking about those beautiful babies of yours!" -- Sarah R., mom of two toddler girls

4. "Don't go to the movies on your date night! You're just going to sit there in silence, which might be what you already do on the couch each night." -- Katie M., mom of a toddler boy

5. "Try to look good for each other still. Parenthood is the least glamorous thing out there. Putting on a dress and some heels once in a while can go a long way." -- Justine F., mom of a toddler boy and baby girl

6. "If you can, take a trip, just the two of you. It does WONDERS for a relationship." -- Ilene P., mom of a toddler girl

7. "Have at least one night a week where you don't collapse onto the couch and watch mindless TV. Make a special dinner, play a game -- mixing things up is key." -- Laura V., mom of a toddler girl.

8. "Make time for intimacy. I know, sometimes it's literally the last thing on earth you want to do, but it really is the best way to reconnect." -- Courtney A., mom of a 5-year-old girl

9. "Don't be afraid to turn on a TV show for your kids once a week in order to have an uninterrupted conversation. It's a great way to sneak in a half hour of 'you' time." -- Erin W., mom of a toddler boy
