What Your Date Night Says About You

Dinner? Movies? Find out what your ideal night out says about you.

The first time my husband and I went on a date after our daughter was born, it was amazing. Also, a little stressful. I mean, we hadn't been out in months. What were we to do?! Dinner? Movies? Dinner and a movie? Ultimately, we decided on dinner at a nearby restaurant, so we could have an uninterrupted conversation and be home pretty quickly thereafter. What did that say about us? That it was our first time away from our baby, and we're not super adventurous!

Wondering what your date-night style means? Read on!

Dinner. You like to keep things simple, and you see nothing wrong with the majority of your date nights revolving around good food and even better company. Why go out instead of staying in and cooking? Because you don't have to clean up and you get to try things you wouldn't normally make at home (Don't lie, you've never made osso buco.)! If you're the kind of person who likes to mix it up and try somewhere new every time you hit the town, you're likely a bit of a foodie, always on the hunt for the tastiest creme brulee or the most tender strip steak. If you typically hit up the same few spots again and again, nothing wrong with that. You know what you like and you're sticking to it.

The movies. If your usual go-to date activity is the movies, you're in one of two camps: You're in a long-term relationship, where you see and talk to your significant other all the time, or you're going on a first date and you're nervous about talking (hence, sitting in a dark room in silence). If you're in the first, you're likely seeing something you want to see (or, at least every other time). If you're in the second, you're probably seeing what you think the other person wants to see. Either way, you get to gorge on overly salted popcorn.

Bowling. If you and your significant other like strapping on ugly shoes and knocking down pins on a Saturday night, you've likely got a competitive edge. Sure, the drinks, music, and fried food are fun, but what you really want is to win -- and to maybe throw it in your partner's face.

Karaoke. If you're the kind of person who likes to hit up a karaoke joint on the weekend, then no doubt, you're always the life of the party. People love when you and your significant other are around, as you're never without funny stories and crazy ideas. You're the kind of person who takes chances -- when it comes to both your love life and the songs you choose to belt out. It doesn't always work out, but when it does, it's worthy of a standing ovation.

Brunch. Unlike it's more conservative counterpart – dinner – brunch is for the cool, laid-back couple. These are the people who don't necessarily need to spend their Friday or Saturday night with their significant others. You're secure in your relationship, so why not spend a lazy late morning, talking over eggs Benedict and fresh-squeezed OJ? Both you and your loved one probably had a late night out -- with or without each other -- so, breakfast at noon seems like the perfect way to catch up.

What's your favorite kind of date?
