Prepping Your Home for the Big Game

Prepping Your Home for the Big Game

Before the tournament starts this summer, get prepared with these prepping tips.

Just like the team you will be cheering for during the big tournament, pulling off a party to remember requires a game plan. There’s no need to get overwhelmed with a long gameday to-do list; a lot can be accomplished well before the days leading up to the big game. With a little planning, you will be enjoying the party as much as your guests.

Start Now
The most important element of every party is the people who come together to celebrate. Once you’ve put together a guest list, sending out the invites in advance will be a huge weight off of your shoulders. Make it easy on yourself by sending out digital invites, allowing you to both keep track of who is coming and even send out party updates.

After getting a sense of the number of people who will attend, it’s time to decide the menu. Two tips:

  1. Don’t hesitate to ask your friends and family to bring a dish for everyone to enjoy.
  2. Remember that it doesn’t hurt to be a little specific when asking them. (The last thing you want is a table full of sweets and no salty or savory snacks.)

Between Now and Then
Put together a shopping list of ingredients for what you will be making. You can then incorporate all of the non-perishable items – along with drinks and party supplies – into your next few shopping trips prior to the game.

Close to Gameday
So now it’s a week or so before the big game. You have the guest list set and a good sense of what the menu will look like. In addition to tackling your game day grocery list of last minute must-haves, the weekend before the party is a perfect opportuning to give your home a thorough cleaning.

Get all the heavy duty cleaning like Swiffering, tidying up cluttered rooms and scrubbing bathrooms out of the way. Of course, you will also want to make sure that your favorite jersey is clean and ready to wear. Come the night before the party, you will be thanking yourself that all the heavy lifting is done and you can focus on being everyone’s favorite hostess.
