eggs, beaten
cup milk
cup bread crumbs
cup onion, finely chopped
tablespoons fresh parsley
teaspoon salt
teaspoon sage
1/2 teaspoon basil
teaspoon black pepper
pound ground beef
1/2 pound ground pork
cup ketchup
1 tablespoon brown mustard
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1. Blend eggs, milk, bread crumbs, onion, parsley, salt, sage, basil and pepper in a mixing bowl.
2. Mix in beef and pork. Lightly pat mixture into an 8-by-4-by-2-inch meatloaf pan.
3. Bake at 350 F for 1 hour, or until internal temperature reaches 160 F.
4. Whisk together ketchup, mustard and Worcestershire sauce.
5. Spread on top and bake for 10 more minutes, or serve on the side.

Topping Suggestions

  • Sprinkle cooked bacon and shredded cheese on top before baking for the final 10 minutes.
  • Carefully pat down shredded hash browns on top before baking for the final 15 minutes.
  • Pipe garlicky mashed potatoes on top and bake until the tips become golden brown.
  • Slice rings of green and red bell peppers on top to add color and texture.
