Every morning presents a choice: do you go with the plainer, cheaper, within-arms-reach coffee you brew at home? Or do you make the extra stop — it is pretty much on your way to work, after all — for the more delicious, and more expensive, varieties of coffee?

Give these a try instead. Get that sweet, delicious jolt of caffeine you need by making your favorite flavored, frozen retail cappuccino at home. Here are a few variations (and one that holds off on caffeine) we can’t start the day without.

Classic Blended Iced Coffee Recipe

Ingredients

2 shots chilled espresso
1/3 cup milk of your choice
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 cup large ice cubes
2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
Whipped cream and chocolate syrup to taste

Directions

Add ice cubes, espresso, milk, sugar and syrup to blender. Blend until smooth, about 30 seconds. Pour into glass and top with whipped cream and chocolate sauce.

Ingredients

2 cups ice
1 cup strong coffee, cooled
1 cup low fat milk
1/3 cup caramel sauce
3 tablespoons white sugar
Whipped cream to taste

Directions

Blend ice, milk, coffee, caramel sauce and sugar on high until smooth. Pour into glass and top with whipped cream. Drizzle extra caramel sauce, if desired.

Frozen Oatmeal Cookie Coffee (Decaffeinated)

2/3 cup decaf coffee
1/3 cup milk
2 cups ice
3 oatmeal cookies (raisins optional)
2 tablespoons chocolate sauce
Whipped cream to taste

Directions

Add all ingredients to blender and blend on high until smooth. Pour into glass and top with whipped cream. Serve and enjoy!

I'm positively addicted to coffee! Be it a cup of plain black coffee to the fancier versions sweetened and flavored and iced. Never thought of trying almond milk but I will now. Thanks for the tip.
