Mini Apple Fritter Recipe

Celebrate the seasonal by whipping up a batch of tasty apple fritters. Apple pie, cider and especially fritters are fall favorites and a perfect way to celebrate apple season! Apple fritters aren’t as hard to make as you may think, and making mini-sized treats is even better! Get the simple recipe and embellish with our yummy topping ideas.

Mini Apple Fritter Recipe

Ingredients
2 cups of all-purpose flour
1/2 cup of granulated sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons of baking powder
1 1/4 teaspoon of salt
2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
2 large eggs
3/4 cup of whole milk
2 tablespoons of melted butter
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
2 apples, peeled and diced*
2 tablespoons peanut or canola oil

*Tip: The most important factor when making apple fritters is choosing the right apples. If you love a tart flavor, use Granny Smith apples. For sweeter flavors, use Gala or Pink Ladies. Fuji apples are an excellent choice for their great color and balance of sweet and sour.

Instructions

  1. Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and cinnamon in a mixing bowl, and then use a whisk to stir and evenly blend
  2. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs with a whisk until yolks and whites are combined, and then add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla and continue to whisk
  3. With a rubber spatula or large wooden spoon, gently fold the dry and wet ingredients together until combined, being careful to not overmix
  4. Gently fold the chopped apples into the batter
  5. In deep, heavy-bottomed saucepan, heat at least 2 inches of oil until it reaches 375 F*
  6. Use a small cookie scoop to drop batter into the oil, and then drop about five at a time, being careful to not decrease the temperature of the oil
  7. Use tongs to turn the fritters over to cook evenly, about 2 minutes a fritter
  8. Remove the fritter and dry/drain in a bowl lined with paper towels, and then allow to cool for a few minutes but still serve warm

*Tip: To test that the oil is ready, carefully drop a little batter in the pan. If it rises to the surface and turns golden brown almost immediately, the oil is ready.

  • Drizzle caramel over the fritters for a deliciously gooey, classic flavor
  • Dust with powdered sugar if you love the taste of fritters on their own
  • Make a simple glaze with powdered sugar and milk
  • Pair with vanilla ice cream for the ultimate dessert
