Basic Beef Burger Recipe

Skip the drive thru and make a delicious, homemade hamburger tonight.

Ingredients (serves 8 people)

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1/2 cup fine, dry breadcrumbs

  1. Preheat your grill on high heat and oil the grate.

  2. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, salt and pepper.

  3. Place ground beef and breadcrumbs into the mixture, and, with your hands or a fork, mix until well blended.

  4. Form into eight patties, each about 3/4-inch thick.

  5. Place the patties on the grill and cook 7 to 9 minutes per side, or however long you desire.

No grill? Use the old-fashioned way. Heat your skillet on med (that's about a 5 or 6 on my electric stove) heat - use a med flame on a gas stove. Put in two tablespoons of oil - I use corn oil, If you like grilled onions, cook some slices now until they start to caramelize, stirring. Then set aside. Whether or not you use the onions, this should be enough oil. Now cook your burgers for about six minutes on one side. Flip each burger towards the middle of pan. Continue cooking to preference.
