Classic Lasagna Recipe

Whip up this tasty, hearty Italian classic in less than two hours.

Ingredients (serves 8 people)

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 jar tomato sauce
  • 1 (32-ounce) container ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups mozzarella cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons parsley
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons pepper
  • 1 package lasagna noodles
  • 1/2 cup water

  1. Brown ground beef and sausage over medium heat in large saucepan, drain and return meat to pan.

  2. Add tomato sauce and simmer for 5 minutes. Set aside.

  3. Mix ricotta, 2 cups of mozzarella, eggs, 1/2 cup Parmesan, parsley, salt and pepper in mixing bowl.

  4. Evenly spread 3/4 cup of sauce mixture in the bottom of 9-by-13-inch baking dish.

  5. Cover with 3 uncooked noodles.

  6. Spread 1 1/3 cup of cheese mixture on top of noodles and 1/4 cup of sauce mixture. Repeat layers twice.

  7. Top with remaining noodles, sauce and cheese mixture. Pour water along edges of pan.

  8. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 50 minutes at 350 F.

  9. Uncover, add remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese and bake for 10 more minutes.

This is a great idea and I think it could be divided in half then frozen add a salad and you have two suppers.
