Kebabs 3 Ways

Fire up the grill and enjoy these 3 simple kebab recipes the whole family will love.



When it’s time to break out the grill, kebabs are the perfect option! Whether it’s for dinner on a Wednesday night or a cookout with your friends and family, these kebabs are sure to please.

Kebab Tip: Metal skewers work best for long-cooking items. If using bamboo skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning.

1. Sweet Chili Pork Kebabs
Serves 6-8
Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 10 minutes

Ingredients
Cooking spray
Bamboo skewers, soak in water for about 30 minutes to prevent burning
1 pound pork loin, cubed
Red, yellow and/or green bell peppers, cubed
1 medium pineapple, cubed
1 large onion, cubed
1 cup pineapple juice
1/2 cup Asian sweet chili sauce
Salt and pepper, to taste 

Tip: To ensure even cooking, be sure to cut the pork, bell pepper and onion into same-sized pieces.

Instructions

  1. Preheat grill to medium-high heat, and then coat with cooking spray
  2. Make kebabs by alternately threading pork, pineapple, pepper and onion pieces on bamboo skewers. Season with salt and pepper
  3. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk together pineapple juice and chili sauce. Drizzle half of mixture over the kebabs, turning to evenly coat
  4. Grill kebabs, turning occasionally, until pork is cooked throughout and vegetables are tender, about 8-10 minutes
  5. Brush remaining sauce over cooked kebabs, and then serve immediately with rice

Tip: Try sweet chili sauce with other foods, too. We love serving it as a dip with chicken wings, sautéed shrimp and pot stickers.

2. Peach Kebabs
Serves: 4-6
Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 5 minutes

Ingredients
3 plums, pitted and cut into quarters
3 peaches, pitted and cut into quarters
12 fresh pineapple cubes
3 tablespoons canola oil
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Thread fruit pieces onto 6 skewers
  2. Whisk together oil and cinnamon, and then brush lightly over fruit
  3. Pre-heat grill to medium-high and oil the grates*
  4. Grill fruit skewers, turning once or twice, until juicy and lightly grill-marked, about 5 minutes

*Tip: Fold a paper towel to the size of your grill-brush head, and lightly soak one side with olive or vegetable oil. Set the towel on the grate, oil-side-down, and then use the brush to push it along the grates to coat evenly.

3. Glazed Salmon Kebabs
Serves: 6
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 10 minutes

Ingredients 
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon maple syrup
1 1/2 pounds skinless salmon filets
Olive oil, for brushing
Salt and pepper, to taste 

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat grill to medium-high and oil the grates
  2. In a small bowl, combine mustard and 2 tablespoons olive oil and maple syrup to make the glaze, and then set aside*
  3. Cut salmon into 1 1/2-inch cubes, thread onto skewers, and then set them on a plate
  4. Brush with olive oil, and season with salt and pepper
  5. Place skewers on the hot grill and close the lid
  6. After 5 minutes, gently turn kebabs with tongs, and then brush with glaze
  7. Close lid, and grill 4 minutes more. Turn and brush again with glaze
  8. Grill a minute longer, or until salmon is fully cooked
  9. Discard any unused glaze
