No matter how much time you spend party planning, you just won’t see some situations coming. This summer, if you find yourself experiencing one or more of these party emergencies, take a deep breath and consult our instructional guide.
Emergency 1: Running out of Food
The Solution: Did your guests bring guests, or are some partygoers particularly hungry? Feed the whole pack by cutting up party food into smaller bites – for example, slice whole burgers in half or brownies into brownie bites. If worst comes to worst, get some pizza delivered or slide a frozen one into the oven.
Emergency 2: Not Enough Seating
The Solution: Overshoot the guest list? Providing blankets for outdoor picnic-style seating or oversized pillows for a cozy indoor sitting area will make it look intentional and inviting. Spray them with Febreze FABRIC beforehand to make this seating option even more appealing.
Emergency 3: Last-second Rain Showers
The Solution: Don’t let all your hard work get rained out. Move the action to the garage or basement for a movie or game night. Guests will be impressed with your quick pivot.
Emergency 4: Lack of Mingle
The Solution: Does your party include people from multiple social circles? Coordinating a casual icebreaker or facilitating a group activity can go a long way to getting your crews to mix and mingle. When you feel the action start to dwindle, we suggest pulling out a hilarious party game or starting a competitive game of charades.
Emergency 5: Early Birds
The Solution: Did guests catch you off guard by showing up 15 minutes early? Put their timeliness to good use by encouraging them to help with last-minute party prep, like putting finishing touches on decorations or setting out plates, cups, napkins and utensils on the buffet table.
Emergency 6: Party Lingerers
The Solution: Are a few guests overstaying their welcome? Politely motivate lingerers to leave by including them in the cleanup. Plus, those extra hands could be a huge help – especially when they’re wielding a Swiffer WetJet, Mr. Clean Multi-Surface Cleaner, Bounty Paper Towels or Dawn Ultra Dish Soap.
