Carla Hall’s Baked Rice Recipe

Ingredients
1 cup Jasmine rice, washed well and drained
1 tablespoon butter or oil
5 tarragon sticks
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups chicken stock (or vegetable stock if preferred)

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F
  2. On a stovetop set to a medium heat, add the butter to a large ovenproof saucepan with a lid and stir until melted. Stir in the rice and coat with the melted butter. Pour in the chicken stock and bring to the boil over a high heat. Add salt to taste
  3. Remove ovenproof saucepan from the heat. Cover and bake in the oven until the water is absorbed and the rice is perfectly tender, 17 1/2 minutes baking

Tip: Celebrity Chef Carla Hall recommends 17 1/2 minutes because, “I’ve made this recipe for years when I was catering and that was the magic number. Of course, ovens are different, so yours may take a little more or less time.”
