Chicken Basil Meatballs

Home chef Laila Ali cooks up delicious, healthy meatballs to complement breakfast spaghetti.

2 pounds ground dark chicken or dark turkey
3 egg whites
½ onion, diced
¼ cup quinoa flour
4 cloves of garlic, minced
1 tablespoon ground sage
1 tablespoon ground thyme
2 teaspoons sea salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons olive oil


1. Preheat the oven to 350 F

2. In a large mixing bowl, mix all ingredients together, except olive oil

3. Use a cookie scoop or spoon to scoop the mixture and start rolling into meatballs

4. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the meatballs and cook on all sides until browned, about 45 seconds for each side

5. Transfer the meatballs to a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the oven for about 8 to 12 minutes or until the meatballs reach 165 degrees. Serve with Laila’s Breakfast Spaghetti!


Mixture will be sticky. Use a pair of latex powder-free gloves while forming meatballs.
