Pre-cut scrap of plywood, cut to size of fireplace
Black spray paint (optional)
Masks
Gloves
Raw firewood, pre-cut in variety of sizes: 4"–8" diameters and 3"–6" heights
Wood glue
Nail gun

STEPS

1. Put on gloves and mask, shake can of black spray paint thoroughly, and spray one side and the edges of the plywood completely

2. Select a few larger pieces of firewood for the base. Apply the wood glue to one end of each piece of firewood, and adhere them to the spray-painted side of the plywood. Glue one piece at a time, starting at the bottom, to create the base

3. Use the nail gun to secure one piece of firewood at a time from behind

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until the spray-painted side of the plywood is covered with firewood
