DIY Candlestick Birdbath

DIY Candlestick Birdbath

Turn 4 materials into fun birdbaths with the help of designer Kenneth Wingard.

5 col

Tape measure
1/2-inch-thick plywood square*
Clear silicone adhesive
Large, heavy candlestick holders
Large clay or glass serving bowl

*Tip: Have the plywood cut to about 15”x15” at your local hardware store. This will act as the base of your birdbath. Be sure the square is larger or at least the same size as your bowl to prevent the completed birdbath from tipping over.

  1. Measure each edge of the board and divide them in half, and make a mark at these half-points on each edge with a pencil. Connect your half-points with a pencil mark, creating an intersection in the middle, which will be the center.
  2. Apply a generous amount of silicone adhesive to the bottom of the candlestick holder and adhere it squarely in the center of the plywood base. Allow the adhesive to dry for a few hours.
  3. Find the perfect center point on the bottom of the bowl and make a dark mark.
  4. Apply a generous amount of adhesive to the top of the candlestick and carefully place the bowl on top of the center point of the bowl. Allow the adhesive to dry for a few hours.
  5. Place the completed birdbath in your yard or garden. Cover the plywood base with the surrounding dirt or mulch to hide the plywood. Fill the bowl with water.

Tip: Empty and clean out your birdbath every few weeks to avoid mildew and pests for congregating.
