DIY Nautical Mirror

Materials
Circular mirror
Circular Lauan plywood (6 inches wider than the mirror)
Measuring tape
Pencil
Heavy-duty construction adhesive
Rope
Hot glue

Instructions

1. Locate the center of the Lauan and place the mirror in the center. Make sure the mirror is 7¼ inches from the edge of the Lauan



2. Use the pencil to trace around the entire mirror

3. Flip the mirror over and apply heavy-duty construction adhesive generously to the back. Then, attach the mirror to the Lauan, using the traced outline as the guide


4. Add twine to the mirror with hot glue at the 12 o’clock, 3 o’clock, 6 o’clock, and 9 o’clock points leaving the loose ends hanging over the mirror. There will be a total of 40 strips of twine, 10 strips at each point (see graph below)



5. Use the hot glue gun to add layers of rope to the open Lauan areas around the outside of the mirror. Build up the layers of rope until you have covered the entire Lauan, covering the top of the twine. Add hot glue to the tip of the rope to prevent fraying


6. Pull the loose ends of the twine over the rope, and glue in place on the back side of the Lauan
