Handmade Gemstone Lamp

Handmade Gemstone Lamp

Create a beautiful, expensive-looking crystal lamp for a fraction of the cost.

Difficulty:
Easy

Materials:
A favorite lamp
Various raw gemstones
Hot glue gun and glue sticks, or clear quick-grab construction adhesive
Scissors or blade
Painter’s tape
Light bulb
Fine sand, to fill in the gaps

Steps:

1. Remove the lampshade from the lamp and set it aside. Decide what design you want to make with the variety of gemstones: Your design could use one color, two colors or more – it’s up to you. If you decide to create a pattern, map out the pattern with painter’s tape

2. Turn on the glue gun and allow it to heat up. Start gluing the gems, working with one color at a time. In this case, we started with the middle section

Designer Tip:
It’s easier to apply the gems when the lamp is lying on its side

3. Once the middle section is covered in gemstones, remove the painter’s tape

4. Begin gluing gemstones on the outer sections

Designer Tip:
Line the crystals so they are flush with the edge of the lamp base – no gems should extend past the bottom.

5. Continue gluing gemstones until the lamp base is completely covered

6. If there are any small gaps between gemstones, use fine white sand to fill them in

7. Attach the bulb and lamp shade to complete the lamp
