Difficulty: Easy

Set of wood nesting tables
Straight edging ruler or T-square
Masking tape (1.5”)
Water-based paint: red, black and white
Containers for paint
Paint brushes

Making the Checkerboard:

  1. Choose one table for the checkerboard table
  1. Set up the grid by taping off the edge of the table to set a border for the checkerboard. Each square is 2 inches, totaling (8) 2-inch squares
  1. Mark every 2 inches along edge using the T-square to make all 8 squares. Repeat in the opposite direction to make the checkerboard

  1. Next, mask off every other square with 1.5-inch tape. Mask tape right along edge. Repeat in opposite direction.

  1. Mix the white paint lightly with water, and paint every other square

Expert Tip: The more water you add, the more transparent the paint. If you dilute the paint too much with the water, simply add more paint.

  1. Set aside to dry for approximately 30 minutes. While it is drying, prepare to make the tic-tac-toe board on the smallest table

Making the Tic-Tac-Toe Board:

  1. You will need to make two lines 4 inches apart with a straight edge. Tape the board and use the utility knife to cut away excess tape in the middle

  1. Next, paint in between the lines. Once complete, set aside to dry for 30 minutes

  1. Once all paint has dried, remove tape from both tables
