5 col

Difficulty: Easy

13" glass charger plates
Water-based sealer/decoupage glue
Scissors or blade
Paintbrush or sponge brush
Straight edge (e.g., ruler, tape measure)
Latex gloves

1. Select fabric(s)

2. Place fabric on a flat surface, and align the clear plate on top to see how you want the fabric positioned. Use scissors or a blade to cut the desired fabric amount (be sure to leave approximately 2" excess all the way around the charger

3. Flip the plate upside down, and use the paintbrush to coat the bottom of the plate with a liberal amount of water-based sealer

Designer Tip: To avoid getting glue on your hands, wear gloves when applying the glue

4. Lay the fabric on the glue side of the plate. If you have fabric with a pattern, make sure the pattern is facing the glue side of the plate. Use your hands to press the fabric firmly onto the plate

5. Turn the plate over and look for any white areas where the glue has not rubbed in

6. Press the fabric in the white areas until the glue is completely transparent

7. Fold the excess fabric over to the glass side and secure with clothespins – the ends will curl if they are not pinned back. Allow to dry for 20 minutes

8. Once the glue is dry, remove the clothespins and use the chalk or a nonpermanent marker to trace the rim.

9. Use scissors or a blade to trim excess fabric around the plate

10. Optional: Use glue to touch up ends as needed so the bottom of the plate appears flush.

Designer Tip: Do not wash these plates in the dishwasher – they must be hand-washed on the top side only
