Transform Kitchen Cart into a Baker’s Island

Transform a kitchen cart using spice racks and utensil hangers into a fun and functional baker’s island.

Materials:
Pre painted cart from kitchen
Remnant counter top
Silicone adhesive
(16) 1/2-inch wood screws
(8) 2-inch self-tapping screws
(2) Pre painted spice rack
Chrome towel rack
Hooks
(4) Cart wheels with locking casters
(4) Leg stands
Drill gun
Screw gun
Pencil

Instructions:

  1. Turn cart upside down
  2. Drill holes with a 1/4-inch drill bit into the bottom, center of each cart leg and manually screw the leg stands
  3. Place cart wheels with locking casters, and mark the holes with a pencil. Repeat for all 4 legs
  4. Remove cart wheel and drill (using a 1/4-inch bit) on the pencil marks. Repeat for all 4 legs
  5. Place the cart wheels back and screw them in using 1/2-inch wood screws. Repeat for all 4 legs
  6. Turn cart right side up
  7. Using 2-inch self-tapping screws, screw the spice racks to side of cart. Use one screw on each end
  8. On the opposite side, using 2-inch self-tapping screws, screw in the chrome towel rack (for hanging utensils)
  9. Spread silicon adhesive all over the top of the cart
  10. With assistance, grab the countertop and place it on top of the cart
