7 Simple Ways to Combat Aging

6. Sleep Tight
There’s a reason why it’s called “beauty” sleep. Just as important as the eight hours, the right kind of sleep helps prevent premature aging and keeps you looking younger. REM sleep, aka rapid eye movement, happens several times during the sleep cycle and is the most important of the five stages of sleep. Why? It’s during this deep sleep state that you restore your energy (Plus, it’s when you dream.). The second most important stage is delta, or stage four, during which your cells regenerate. Avoiding bright computer screens, caffeine or stress before bedtime sets you up for sleep success.

7. Try to Stress Less
Stress affects not only your spirit but your body as well, often showing up as complexion woes. You can’t completely remove stress from your life, but there are ways to head off stressful situations before they arise. For example, consider letting that argument with your spouse roll off your back (even if you know you were right). Or, distance yourself from that toxic friend who constantly criticizes or is just plain negative. The truth is you’ll not only feel better, but you’ll look younger, too.
