Every day, people are beating breast cancer in record numbers thanks to early diagnosis.
Now, there’s exciting new technology available that can help support early detection of breast cancer — an app designed to help you follow a regular routine of self- and clinical examination. It’s totally free and available at the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) website. (Download the app here.) With this app, you’re always close to the information that can save your life.

The Early Detection Plan app — the first of its kind — allows women to enter personal information (age, weight and family health history) and then creates optimal scheduling for self-examinations and professional visits. It will provide regular prompts, tutorials on performing a breast exam as well as information on a variety of related health and wellness topics.
Of course, with early detection and the advances in treatment, your odds of beating breast cancer are better than ever. The NBCF points out in their 2013-14 Early Detection Planner that if breast cancer is caught early (localized stage), the five-year survival rate is 98 percent. This good news exemplifies why it is so important for you to schedule exams regularly.
So, one of the best things you can do for your health is to utilize this app and follow a regular routine of self- and clinical examination. It’s a great way to establish a habit that can help you get the most from your life.
