Exercise is not only great for your physical fitness — it also benefits your mind. By keeping active and moving your body every day, you’ll notice an improvement in your physical and mental wellbeing. Feel great from your brain to your toes with these four mood-boosting workouts that are simple and fun.

1. Water Aerobics
Exercising while submerged in water helps to move muscles more freely and target those spots you’ve been keeping stagnant. Plus, it’s a big relief for stiff joints and muscles.

Many gyms or fitness centers offer classes for adults with instructors leading you in exercise routines to increase movement and flexibility. A class is also a wonderful place to meet new friends and relax in the comfort of soothing water. You will feel refreshed, fit and ready for more after a water aerobics session.

2. Dance Class
Whether you’ve danced before or have been planning to learn something new, there are plenty of schools and free or low-cost dance classes in your area. Libraries, dance schools and other local community centers often hold dance classes for dancers at every level.

Finally learn to ballroom dance with your partner, meet new people, learn a line dance or even the latest dancing fads. Dancing is so much fun, you’ll forget it’s actually exercise! It’s never too late to start dancing, and paired with some great music, you won’t even realize how quickly the time passes.

3. Yoga
Yoga is a great way to stretch and focus on your body. Any level of yoga is beneficial to the body and spirit. Most gyms, fitness centers, and of course, yoga studios have classes for everyone — from the beginner to the yogi.

While every class is different, classes will generally focus on deep breathing, muscle stretching and calming your mind. Each move will allow you to feel more in tune with your body’s capabilities and possibilities. You can practice yoga anytime and practically anywhere. You’ll find yourself more focused and flexible with the more yoga you practice.

4. Bowling
Round up a few friends or check out your local alley for a team sign-up. Bowling is a fun way to meet new people and socialize. It’s also the perfect activity for any ability level and gets your muscles moving. Balls are available in any weight so no matter your physical fitness level, you’ll find the right fit for you. You’ll feel great by improving your score and moving your body. Enjoy a treat afterward at the concession stand; you’ve earned it!
