How to Turn Chores into 4 Easy Workouts

1. Chore: Cleaning Your Floors

  • Instead of just bending down to grab groups of dishes, grab one at a time, using a squat technique as you go
  • Squat, grab individual plates and containers, rise up and set them on the counter
  • Once the dishwasher is empty, double the workout by lifting piles of plates up over your head before putting them away

3. Chore: Putting Away laundry

When you bring your laundry upstairs, take the opportunity to add in some lunges.

Tips:

  • Mimic the lunge motion by skipping a stair each time you go up.
  • Make more trips up and down the stairs, when possible.
  • As you’re lunging, curl the laundry basket like you would a dumbbell for a fast arm workout.

4. Chore: Doing Dishes by Hand

Make the most of your time doing dishes by throwing in some calf raises!

Before you start in on a pile of dirty dishes, stand with your legs shoulder width apart. Stand on your toes for 3-5 seconds and lower back down to standing. Repeat for as long as it takes to do the dishes.
