8-step At-home Facial Massage

Looking for a way to make your skin look vibrant and clear that doesn’t require a pricey trip to the salon? Try facial massage! You can do it at home and on your schedule.

It can be done in the morning with your favorite cleansing fluid or in the evening using a moisturizer or serum.

1. Start with a clean face. Using a facial cleansing liquid, moisturizer or massage oil, add a few drops on your fingertips. The fluid will make the surface slippery. You don’t want to pull the skin, for this can be damaging. Skim your fingertips across it. Add more fluid as needed.

2. Starting at your nose, with your fingertips spread fluid across your cheeks outward to your ears. Move fingers down the sides of the face and sides of the neck, stopping at your collarbone. Repeat five to 10 times.

3. Moving to your jawline, place fingertips on your chin and stroke them across the jaw to the ears. Use firm, even pressure. This helps reduce fluid retention along the jaw and firm the line. Repeat five to 10 times.

4. Add a few drops of fluid to the back of your hands. Place them under the jawbone and sweep them outward toward the ears in long strokes. Repeat five to 10 times.

5. With both hands, gently stroke the neck downward. Start at the chin and move outward to the sides of the neck. Repeat five to 10 times. Reverse the motion, stroking upward. Repeat five to 10 times.

6. Place index and middle fingers above the lips under the nose. Make small circles moving to the corners of the mouth and down to the chin. This helps with lines along the upper lips, sides of the mouth and nasal fold. Repeat five to 10 times.

7. For the forehead, place fingertips between the brows. Make small circles to help soften those pesky lines between the brows. Repeat five to 10 times

8. Sweep your fingertips across the entire forehead toward the temples. Then sweep them upward from the brows, moving along their length to the hairline. Repeat five to 10 times.

Work facial massage into your beauty regime. Take five minutes if you’re in a hurry or a little longer for a relaxing indulgence. Your skin will be glowing and youthful-looking.
